AI Meta Tags Generator

The Meta Tags screen lets you manage and AI-generate per-page meta title and meta description tags for every page in your documentation site. You can generate tags in bulk across all pages at once, or generate and edit them individually — either from the Meta Tags table or directly inside the page editor.

Where to Find It

There are two places to work with meta tags in Hyperdocs:

•Meta Tags table — go to Settings → Marketing → Meta Tags in the admin sidebar. This is the central screen for viewing and managing tags across all your pages in one place.

•Page editor panel — open any page in the Docs Editor, then look at the right-hand settings panel. The Meta Title and Meta Description fields there let you generate or edit tags for the page you are currently writing.

Plan and Domain Requirements

Meta tag management requires a paid plan (Starter and above) and a connected custom domain. If your domain is not yet connected, a banner appears at the top of the Meta Tags page prompting you to set one up first — the table controls remain visible but are gated until both requirements are met. If your workspace is on the Free plan, an upgrade banner appears below the domain banner.

The Meta Tags Table

The Meta Tags table (at Settings → Marketing → Meta Tags) lists every page in your documentation. Each row shows the page name, its current meta title, and its current meta description. From this screen you can search, filter, select pages, and generate or save tags in bulk.

Searching and Filtering

•Use the Search field at the top of the table to find pages by name. Results update automatically as you type.

•Use the language dropdown to switch the table to a specific translated locale. When a non-English locale is selected, the table shows that language's own meta tags, and all generate and save actions apply to that locale's copy — the English source is never changed.

•The table is paginated. If your selection spans more than the visible page, a Select all [n] pages link appears — clicking it extends your selection to every page matching the current search, including pages not yet loaded.

Generating Meta Tags in Bulk

•Use the checkboxes in the table to select the pages you want to generate tags for.

•If you want to include every page matching your current search, click Select all [n] pages after checking the visible rows.

•Click the Generate meta button that appears in the toolbar above the table. Hyperdocs sends an AI generation request for each selected page and fills in the Meta Title and Meta Description fields with the results.

•Review the generated values in the table rows. Each row becomes editable once selected — you can adjust the title or description before saving.

•Click Save (in the toolbar or on an individual row) to persist the tags. Generated values are not saved automatically — you must save explicitly.

Editing and Saving a Single Row

•Click the checkbox on any individual row to select it and open its Meta Title and Meta Description fields for editing.

•Type directly into the fields to write your own tags, or click the sparkle button on the row to generate AI-suggested values for that page only.

•Click Save on the row to save only that page's tags without affecting other rows.

•To discard your edits on a row without saving, uncheck its checkbox. The row returns to its previous saved state.

Generating Meta Tags in the Page Editor

Every page in the Docs Editor has a right-hand settings panel. This panel includes a Meta Title field, a Meta Description field, and controls to generate or apply default values — so you can manage SEO metadata without leaving the editor.

How to Generate Tags for the Current Page

•Open the Docs Editor and select the page you want to work on.

•In the right-hand settings panel, locate the Meta Title and Meta Description fields.

•Click the sparkle button next to the fields to generate AI-suggested values. Hyperdocs reads the page content and produces a meta title and description based on what you have written.

•The generated values are filled into the fields but not saved automatically. Review and edit them if needed.

•Click Save in the panel to persist the meta tags for this page.

Applying Default Meta Values

If you prefer not to use AI generation, the settings panel also offers a way to apply default values. Clicking the sync button fills the Meta Title with the page's title and the Meta Description with the first paragraph of the page's content (or the site-wide default meta description from your SEO settings if no paragraph is found). These values are filled locally and must be saved with the Save button to take effect.

Excluding a Page from Search Engines

The settings panel includes a No index toggle. When turned on, the page is excluded from external search engine indexing (Google, Bing, and others). The page remains fully accessible on your site — only crawlers are told not to index it. Toggling this setting saves immediately without requiring you to click Save.

Multilingual Meta Tags

Both the Meta Tags table and the page editor settings panel support translated locales. In the Meta Tags table, use the language dropdown to switch to a target language — the table then shows and edits that language's meta tags independently. In the page editor, when you are viewing a translated copy of a page, the settings panel generates and saves meta tags for that locale's copy. The English source meta tags are never overwritten by actions taken in a non-English locale.

How AI Generation Works

When you trigger generation — either for a single page or in bulk — Hyperdocs reads the content of each selected page and uses it to produce a contextually relevant meta title and meta description. For translated locales, the generation reads the translated content and produces tags in the target language. Generated values are suggestions: they are placed into the editable fields so you can review and adjust them before saving. Nothing is published until you explicitly click Save.
