Team Members
Hyperdocs lets you invite teammates into a workspace so multiple people can collaborate on documentation. Every member is assigned one of three roles — Admin, Editor, or Viewer — which controls what they can see and do inside that workspace.
Roles overview
Each workspace member has exactly one role. Roles are set at invite time and can be changed later by an Admin.
•Admin — Full control. Admins can invite and revoke members, change roles, manage billing, configure all settings (General, Domain, Navigation, Branding, Integrations, Danger Zone), connect GitHub, run Docs Audits, and publish documentation. Only Admins can delete the workspace.
•Editor — Content control. Editors can create, edit, and publish documentation pages, changelog entries, the home page, and the help center. They can use the Docs Agent and translate content. They cannot access billing, team management, domain settings, or the Danger Zone.
•Viewer — Read-only. Viewers can open the admin dashboard and browse all content areas, but every write action — editing pages, saving settings, inviting members, publishing — is disabled for them.

Inviting a team member
Only Admins can send invitations. The invited person receives an email with a link to join the workspace.
•Open your admin dashboard and go to Settings → Access & Roles.
•Click Add members in the top-right corner of the page.
•Enter the teammate's email address in the field provided.
•Choose a Role — Admin, Editor, or Viewer — from the dropdown.
•Click Send invite. The invitation is sent immediately and appears in the member list with a Pending status until the recipient accepts.
Changing a member's role
Admins can change any non-Admin member's role at any time from the Access & Roles page.
•Go to Settings → Access & Roles.
•Find the member in the table. In the Role column, click the role dropdown next to their name.
•Select Editor or Viewer. The change takes effect immediately — no confirmation is required.
•The Admin role cannot be changed from this dropdown. Workspace ownership is separate from the invited-member role system.
Revoking access
Revoking a member removes their access to the workspace immediately. This action cannot be undone — you would need to send a new invitation to restore access.
•Go to Settings → Access & Roles.
•Find the member in the table and click the revoke button (the trash icon) on the right side of their row.
•Confirm the action in the dialog that appears. The member is removed and the seat becomes available again.
Seat limits and plan allowances
Each plan includes a fixed number of member seats. The Access & Roles page shows a seats used / total badge at the top so you can see your current usage at a glance.
•Free — 1 seat (the workspace owner only). Inviting teammates requires a paid plan.
•Starter — 3 seats included.
•Growth — 5 seats included.
•Scale — 25 seats included.
•When all seats are taken, clicking Add members opens a prompt explaining the limit and offering two ways to resolve it: remove an existing member, or buy an extra seat add-on.
If your plan is full but you need more members, you can purchase individual seat add-ons without upgrading your plan. Add-ons are available on paid plans (Starter and above).
•Go to Settings → Your plan (the upgrade page) and scroll to the Add-ons section, or click Buy a seat from the seat-limit dialog that appears when you try to invite someone.
•In the dialog, choose how many extra seats you need (up to 20 at a time).
•Review the Due today amount — this is prorated to the remaining days in your current billing period. The add-on then renews monthly with your plan.
•Click Continue to payment to complete the purchase through Dodo Payments. You are returned to Hyperdocs once payment is confirmed and the new seats are immediately available.
Invited members vs workspace owners
There is an important distinction between the workspace owner and invited members.
•The workspace owner is the account that created the workspace. Owners are always Admins and are the only ones who can delete the workspace. Ownership cannot be transferred.
•Invited members are teammates added via the Access & Roles page. Even if an invited member is given the Admin role, they cannot delete the workspace — only the original owner can.
•The workspace card on the Workspaces hub shows your role in each workspace you belong to, so you can tell at a glance whether you are the owner or an invited member.
